Back in the day, long before I'd established any real chops in journalism, I had at least earned the dubious distinction of being a steady and reliable source of private jet gossip.

In 2015, I brought Australian Financial Review readers the news that Fox Corporation had acquired the very latest kit – a Gulfstream 650 – for its (then) executive chairman Rupert Murdoch. That was followed in 2018 by Fox's second G650 for co-chairman Lachlan Murdoch.[[In truth, I reported that the jets were owned by Fox's sibling company, News Corp, which I've since learned was incorrect.]]

I can now reveal that, after a few solid years of depreciation, Fox has upgraded the G650 used by Lachlan to Gulfstream's brand new model, the G800. The mint plane left Gulfstream's Savannah, Georgia facility on January 6. After stopping in California, it flew on to Sydney and was photographed on blocks outside the ExecuJet terminal on January 11. It is the very first Gulfstream 800 to visit these shores.
