I've previously foreshadowed that I was working on a major project and today, I'm finally launching the trailer for Rampart Talks, my new vodcast series.
Over the last six weeks, my crew and I have been everywhere from Melbourne to Los Angeles and even the South Pacific capturing fascinating insights from some of Australia's leading business minds.
All up, there will be six episodes, and the trailer reveals the first four:
The first episode – my interview with Packer on his superyacht IJE – will be released on Sunday, and I'll email you again when that episode drops.
Only Rampart's paid subscribers can watch or listen to the full one-hour episodes at rampart.news (subscribe here). For Rampart's free list members (and the general public), a 10-minute version will be available at rampart.news as well as on YouTube, Spotify and all the major podcast players.
All up, there will be six episodes in this series. I won't name the final two interviewees just yet – I'll only say that they will improve our gender balance!
With Rampart Talks, I wanted to do something that is fairly unique in the Australian market: high-quality, long-form exclusive interviews with the most intriguing businesspeople Australia has going for it. I was also eager to show the audience that Rampart is so much more than a facsimile of my old Rear Window column – as proud as I am of that heritage.
Whether or not there is a second series of Rampart Talks depends entirely on the response from Rampart's audience. I'm striving to deliver Rampart subscribers value and indeed to increase the value of their subscriptions over time. Video content is hugely labour intensive so as you can imagine, it's an enormous juggle trying to write regular, compelling articles – all of which require thinking time – and jet around producing a first-rate vodcast at the same time. As always, I'm keen to hear your feedback and satisfy your collective preferences so please tell me what you think.
I'd like to thank the series' sponsors, who were prepared to back a new media product that didn't yet exist. That takes courage and imagination and I'm enormously grateful they have both. Rampart Talks is brought to you by our platinum partner Resolve Forensic, the experts in forensic accounting and financial investigations. Our gold partners are BHP and Ray White Commercial. I'll be talking much more about these companies in the coming days and weeks.
I'd also like to thank my incredible producer Eliza Harvey, without whom this series would've been decidedly ho-hum. Instead of Rampart Talks I'd probably have called it Amateur Hour. Our film crew and editors were the masterful Sam Morgan and Jonah McLachlan from Mark Bouris' Mentored Studios, who I've enjoyed working with immensely.
Thanks also to Claire Kimball, Larissa Moore and Anthony Simic at Squiz Media, on whose shoulders Rampart stands every single day. They delivered the considerable work of building audio and video functionality for Rampart's website, secured our terrific sponsors and provided much-needed guidance and support along the way.
I look forward to releasing the Packer interview on Sunday. I'll also email you in the next few days to launch Rampart's newest benefit for subscribers: gifting articles.
Thank you again for your support of Rampart.
Best,
