Peter V'Landys, Son of God and Man of Steel
If he signed a settlement and swore he hadn’t, what’s his word worth?
Peter V'Landys is a man of his word, and the word is "never." "Absolutely not," V'Landys told a NSW parliamentary inquiry in August 2024 when asked if he'd ever entered a private settlement with a former employee.
"Never, ever, ever," V'Landys said under oath. "There is no evidence that I've ever signed a disclosure agreement with any person, and I take great offence to it."
Parliament has since acquired a 2021 deed of release between Racing NSW and an accountant it sacked. He was paid $9,656.25.
Clause six of the deed is headed "Confidentiality." And beneath the words "Signed for Racing NSW by an authorised officer" is the name of the officer: Peter V'Landys.
At the same hearing, V'Landys was also asked whether Racing NSW staff were watched on CCTV and had their email and web traffic monitored. Initially, he said: "Absolute rubbish." Given a second go in writing, he said Racing NSW didn't "actively monitor staff," but prior web activity could be examined in investigations. "I again stress Racing NSW doesn't monitor web traffic," he signed off.
