While the gentry alights to the Med, Hughesy's angry rants soothe Joe through Sydney winter

Well, it's great to be back in Sydney where everyone (including me) is sneezing and spluttering uncontrollably while hate-scrolling their rich friends' Instagram posts from Capri, Mallorca or St Tropez. I mean, who'd want to be at Wimbledon, anyway? Too many flies…

My column for The Australian Financial Review was published this morning, and this month I've taken a further dive into the future of the Qantas International division following my trip to Airbus in Toulouse last month with the airline's management team and top investors. And tragically, that's the closest I'll be getting this year to Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.

Fewer seats, higher fares: In 5 years, Qantas will be unrecognisable
Project Sunrise will retire Qantas as a mass-market brand and product, vaulting it back into the top three premium international airlines globally.

It's been great to spend the last two weeks in Rampart's new office on Macquarie Street with the full complement –  all six of us – now that we've welcomed our star recruit Amelia McGuire.

I need to apologise for a technical glitch we're having with the gifting articles functionality on our website. We should have that back in working order today. We know how enthusiastically so many of you use it and understand how frustrating it is when it's not working.

Am I the only person who is absolutely loving the insatiable fury of Dave Hughes about the Albanese government's capital gains tax double-cross?

The burghers of Bellevue Hill ambushed right before they could negatively gear their seventh investment properties have all moved on. They're now also in Mallorca. Even the symphony of economists in high dudgeon for most of May long ago returned to their vegetable patches, or their collections of belly button lint. Not Hughesy, oh no. He is non-stop raging, and I am so here for it.
