Good morning from gay Paris! My major take-out from the Qantas investor and media briefing in Toulouse last week is that the airline is preparing to bring forward the retirement of its A380 fleet, previously pinned to the "early 2030s". Confirmation could come as early as Qantas' full-year result on August 27.

But, first…

Check out this excellent review by Alexandra Carlton of Beverly Hills hotspot, Funke, where I just so happened to dine last Saturday night.

Funke: Flamboyant Americana meets Italian craftsmanship
Warhols, Porsches, namedropping… and the understated perfection of really good pasta.

Sitting on a British Airways A380 at its LAX departure gate, the cabin manager places her hand beseechingly on my forearm. "Sir, please don't feel you have to, but this gentleman would like to swap seats with you."

Travelling alone and being in high spirits, I was already inclined to accede, whoever this gentleman was. Then I looked up and saw it was none other than legendary film actor Harvey Keitel. And when Winston Wolf from Pulp Fiction asks you to switch, you switch.

"If I'm curt with you it's because time is a factor," he should've said. "I think fast, I talk fast and I need you to act fast if you wanna get out of this. So, pretty please, with sugar on top, move to my fβ€”ing seat." Instead, he just grabbed my hand and thanked me vehemently.
